Hotel & Region

A house that casts tradition in a new light

In the heart of the old town, a renewed interpretation of Hotel Zur Tenne is taking shape — one that honours its history while opening the door to new perspectives. Architecture and interior design unite regional craftsmanship with contemporary clarity: thoughtful, warm, and guided by a spirit that has defined the house for generations. It is a place that slows the pace without holding it back, and inspires without overwhelming. A house that evolves — yet remains what it has always been: a familiar anchor in the midst of the Tyrolean Alps.

Philosophy & Ethos

Where past and future meet

The philosophy of the Tenne rests on creating a house that offers people space — for stillness, for connection and for the distinct sense of life that makes Kitzbühel known far beyond its borders. The region blends alpine strength with an effortless lightness that is difficult to explain, yet immediately felt. This idea shapes the ethos of the house: attentiveness in the details, warmth in the encounter and hospitality that stems not from convention, but from conviction.

Architecture & Design

Forms that endure. Spaces that open.

Designed by LSA Architekten Munich, the new Tenne retains the familiar silhouette of the original building while bringing it into the present with contemporary clarity. Externally, the structure blends naturally into the historic streetscape; internally, spaces emerge that balance openness with warmth. Parts of the interior are additionally created in collaboration with the internationally renowned Martin Brudnizki Design Studio. Thoughtful materiality, refined textures and a clear design language lend the Tenne a modern lightness that aligns with the house’s long-standing identity.

Region & Seasons

Facets between lanes and peaks

The location of Hotel Zur Tenne bridges two worlds: the historic structures of a town that has grown for more than 750 years, and the open expanse of the Tyrolean mountains. Throughout summer and winter, the Kitzbühel region reveals shifting atmospheres — lively in the cobbled lanes, quiet in the forests, powerful on the summits. From here, paths open into movement, while moments of stillness emerge naturally. An environment rich in variety, shaping the view anew each time.

THE KITZBÜHEL REGION

Hotel & Region at a Glance

A connection of place, history & identity

The renewed Tenne is more than an architectural project — it is the result of regional heritage, contemporary design and the distinctive atmosphere that has shaped Kitzbühel for generations. The following insights deepen central aspects of the house and reflect what defines its identity.

History & Renewal

A traditional house opening new chapters

The story of the Tenne is inseparable from the story of the people of Kitzbühel. For decades, the house has been a setting for encounters, celebrations and family moments. In the new building, traces of this history remain visible: Elements of Rathausplatz 2, whose origins reach back to the 16th century, have been preserved, restored and sensitively reintroduced. At the same time, new spaces are created that carry the tradition forward without simply reproducing it. A house that breathes the past and enables the future — a place that continues without standing still.
