History

Kitzbühel is famous as a legendary sporting venue nestled in the Tyrolean Alps. And our hotel is a legend, too.

1543

  • Hotel Zur Tenne is first mentioned in official records. It is usually owned by the town mayor.

1902

  • Skiing pioneer Franz Reisch buys the hotel.

1969

  • Falk Volkhardt makes a dream come true by buying Hotel Zur Tenne. Whilst extensive renovation work is carried out, the hotel’s facade is left unchanged in order to preserve the town’s historical appearance.

1992

  • Innegrit Volkhardt follows in her father’s footsteps, taking over at the helm of the Bayerischer Hof in Munich and Hotel Zur Tenne.

1995

  • Innegrit Volkhardt has the restaurant, banqueting rooms, reception area and wellness facilities as well as the cosy winter garden - overlooking the vibrant town of Kitzbühel - renovated in line with plans submitted by star architect Siegward Graf Pilati. The Tenne is re-opened in the very same year following comprehensive renovation work.

1995-today

  • In the following years, the bathrooms, guest rooms and suites are gradually renovated in a charming Tyrolean country-cottage style with lots of rustic old wood and modern French fabrics. And there are already plans for more innovative projects.
